How much should I tip the mate?
Many of our customers ask me how much they should tip the mate for a trip. This is a difficult question to answer since we don't want to sound greedy. Please keep in mind, our mates primary source of income from the day are the tips they receive. I always tell customers to evaluate your trip, as well as our performance, to decide what gratuity you want to leave. When people ask me to put a number on it, I tell people 15-20% is an average day. We are very fortunate to have become friends with many of our customers, who tip generously. We understand folks work hard for their money and hope that at the end of the day you will say we have done the same. Having said that, it is ALWAYS the CLIENT'S decision whether or not to tip and how much to tip us at the end of the trip
How many people are allowed on the boat?
USCG regulations limit us to 6 customers and a reasonable crew on board our vessel. We have a network of other vessels which allow us to accommodate groups larger than 6 on multiple boats (call for details).
What is the age limit?
We do not have an age limit; however, we do not recommend children under the age of 5 because in our experience they do not have the attention span to enjoy the trip and can make it difficult for others to enjoy. Children under 10 years, depends on the child. We recommend a one on one adult with children of this age to allow them to enjoy the experience. As with adults, we recommend taking precautions for sea sickness for children not used to being on the lake.
Are alcoholic beverages allowed on the boat?
Yes, you are allowed to bring beer onboard. We ask that any alcohol brought on board is in cans rather than bottles due to the possibility of breakage on the boat. All individuals consuming alcohol must be 21 years of age. Absolutely no drugs are allowed onboard (the trip will be terminated if they are brought onboard).
What is prohibited on the boat?
No illegal substances are allowed the boat.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations due to weather are at the sole discretion of the captain. If the captain deems it unsafe to run the trip, you will be given the option to reschedule your trip and roll your deposit over or to receive a refund. If you need to cancel your trip for personal, financial, or other reasons more than 14 days in advance you may roll your deposit to another date or receive a refund. Cancellations made less than 14 days of your first trip will not receive a refund. We understand it is a fishing trip, but for us it is an occupation and cancellations represent a day of lost wages for us. Cancellations will be handled on an individual basis.
What method of payments do you accept?
Cash, check, and credit cards are all accepted methods of payment. There is a 3% charge for Credit Card payments, which will be added at the time of payment.
Do you require a deposit
A $150 deposit is required before your reservation will be confirmed. See Cancellation policy for details on canceling or changing your dates.
Do you offer fish cleaning?
There are fish cleaners within close proximity to the dock. They charge between $.50 - $1.00 / lb to clean your catch. We can assist you with transporting your fish to the cleaners if needed. You are also welcome to take your catch with you and clean them yourself if you would like, but we recommend hiring the job done as it is nice to get back and relax after your trip rather than cleaning fish.
Will you pick up on the Islands?
Yes. If you are staying on one of Lake Erie's Islands, we do offer pickup and drop off at each of the Islands. We do charge an additional fee to cover the additional fuel and time involved with providing this service. Please call us for more details.
Can I fish more than one type of fish?
Yes. There is an additional fee for combination packages. Bear in mind that splitting your time on the water between two species does limit our time to establish a working program for each of the species and can decrease the likelihood of limiting out on one or more species. Please submit a request or call for more information.
