2020 Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Outlook
Walleye Fishing 1/4/2020It is no secret that 2019 was one of the best years of walleye fishing, maybe the best ever! The 2019 season saw a record number of trips where customers caught their daily limit of walleye (6 per person). Lake Erie certainly solidified its spot as one of, if not the greatest, walleye fisheries in the world. Many people traveled, some as far as from North Dakota, to fish this amazing lake. So with 2019 being such an amazing season, what does the 2020 season of walleye fishing hold? Can it really be as good as the outstanding season of 2019? Every year, the ODNR Division of Wildlife and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources complete population samples by using bottom trawling. According to Tony Bresnen’s article “Lake Erie’s Amazing Walleye Hatch”, this is a process that uses moving nets along to catch fish which are located near the bottom of the lake. They conducted these tests at nearly 40 sampling locations. Bresnen said in his article that the results of the survey conducted in 2019 show that the Walleye hatch of 2018 was the largest on record. He reported that the hatch found 256 walleye per hectare, which is almost 1.5 times as large as the famous 2003 Walleye hatch. So what does all this mean for Lake Erie? One can only speculate, but it sure seems like the outlook for 2020 Walleye charter fishing is going to be at least equally as amazing as the 2019 season. We are heading into what will likely be historical Walleye fishing for potentially the next decade. Don't be left on the dock and miss the Walleye fishing of a lifetime. Book your trips for 2020 Sooner, rather than later, as prime dates will fill up quickly with people trying to get in on the action. https://eriesponsiblesportfishing.com/Rates/Requests ....
